About MakeShift

Makeshift’s mission is to empower individuals to use social media to change the world piece by piece through the sharing of ideas.

Social media is ever-evolving, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan for changes. Makeshift believes that every structure you put in place is temporary for this reason. MAKE your social media goals happen. SHIFT your thinking—temporary is good for change.

Through exploring best practices, tools and guidelines, Makeshift will give you the blueprint to begin, enhance or hone your strategy. Whether it’s to understand your personal brand, start a blog for your classroom, start social media channels for your non-profit or just see what someone else is doing, Makeshift is this space.

About Ashley

Ashley Goforth started Makeshift four years ago and made it digital in 2012. Her passion for social media and helping others tap into their passions as a way to build awareness drove her to build a space where she could share her own successes and failures as a community manager and brand creator.

She started Makeshift with the belief that we all learn from one another, and the sharing of ideas, practices, and technological advances will help us all to change our little corner of the digital space, and perhaps eventually use the tools to change the world.

Ashley received her Master of Arts in Media Studies from The New School, a degree specializing in international corporate digital strategy, media management innovations, evolving worldwide digital privacy law, and the sociology of media communication across all broadcast and digital platforms. She has worked to build brand presence on social media platforms for over six years as a consultant and social media manager.
